Causes of Violence in America
Presidential candidates acknowledge problem but not causes or effects
There is no fighting violence without knowing the causes
Nearly everyone, including political candidates and current politicians across the board usually allude to violence and other social ills as being the result of poverty without defining just what poverty looks like. The public and political view of gun violence is driven by statistics rather than causes, effects, and prevention. Without looking at all the factors involved, state and federal policies will never change, and the poor will continue to be victimized.
Isolationism, Location, and Community Dynamics
In most cities across the U.S., in sprawling metropolises or smaller cities and towns, low-income neighborhoods are often located in a specific area. There is often little or no transportation, no access to healthy food, few or no community services, no job opportunities. Dollar General stores targeted poor urban neighborhoods, putting small grocers out of business. Until recently Dollar Stores did not carry cold food.
