In Kansas LGBTQ single adults and couples can no longer become foster parents or adopt children. But then you're talking about a state that still worships Donald Trump and hopes he runs for president in 2023, and Kris Kobach who is re-entering the political arena by running for Attorney General this year and helped shape Trumps immigration policy and Kansas voting rights law which was the first state to make voting much stricter. Kobach loves to tout his "Christian" values and his anti-abortion and anti-gay stance. In nearly every extremist Republican led state legislation has already been passed or is in the works to weaken or end laws not only to make voting harder, but to weaken or restrict LGBTQ rights. Trumps office of Christianity he established in the WH didn't help as its purpose is to allow straight, American men and women more power to sue because they say they are the ones being discriminated against. It is indeed a terrifying world these days. I worry about my 16-year-old grandson and his boyfriend. The town of Hutchinson, among pre-teens and teens, at least, is accepting of the LGBTQ community yet many of their parents are not accepting at all. I grew up in the sixties and remember the stigma attached to being gay. And now the far-right extremists are trying to take so many of our Civil liberties away.
