Libraries should consider putting a giant box, barrel or other big container right inside or outside the doors then call nonprofits, especially those working with seniors and disadvantaged youth, and early education nonprofits who can use yarn, puzzles, and even some magazines for decoupage. The VA creative arts program recently did decoupage and I had nothing but the colored tissue paper squares for mine. Magazines are expensive. At senior centers and perhaps even Ronald McDonald Houses could use puzzles. My seven-year-old great nephew recently had a liver transplant, and my niece, Tobias's dad and stepdad were in the Ronald McDonald house for four months. My niece Amy said she about went stir crazy because she could be in the room with Tobias for three weeks following the transplant, or much of the recovery time either. Something to think about. . .but I do see what you mean about people unloading their used stuff too, especially in bigger cities.
