Pandemic stories
I remember when my daughter, who was 30 at the time called me with the news that her paternal grandmother had contracted Covid while in a rehabilitation center for those struggling with a mental illness in Pittsburg, KS. With hospitals at capacity the center had turned an entire floor into an area for Covid isolation. At 83 my mother-in-law was in an oxygen tent and not expected to survive. A staff member had opted not to wear a mask or get vaccinated and after being exposed to Covid in the community came to work and gave Covid to residents and other staff. All we could do was wait and pray. Thankfully our family was among the lucky ones. Her grandmother survived although she suffers from side effects including increased hand and mouth tremors.
