Transcendence
Epitaph for my father gone the past thirty one years
The night sky is the blue of your eyes
that dreamed us into being and
even now I search its expanse
for some sense of you.
You’ve gone beyond the reach
of my dreaming, while words
left unspoken tremble on my lips
like wild birds seeking flight.
The heavens, forever sentient,
Will not give up its secrets,
embracing you jealously.
You are the brilliant thread
my soul is embroidered with.
I am gentled and made great by
the wisdom you bestowed on me.
If I am even half of what you were
in my rite of passage
I have given you immortality.
I will watch and wait until you pass this way again.
