When I was traveling doing Head Start program reviews I experienced a similar account. I had just walked up the steps to the second floor where kids were in line to go to lunch or ride the bus to their homes (T program was both half or full day). A little 4 yr old Hispanic waiting down the hall called me mom. His black classmate responded by telling him that I wasn't his mama because I was pink and his mom was brown. It wasn't a racist remark. That's the wonderful innocence of childhood, that we're all the same.
